Skill Level :

  • Three large sized tomatoes (pureed)
  • 250g paneer (cut into cubes)
  • Two large sized onions
  • One bay leaf
  • Two cloves
  • One table spoon of ginger-garlic paste
  • One table spoon red chili powder
  • Three table spoon of cashew nut paste
  • Half table spoon of turmeric powder
  • One table spoon of coriander powder
  • Half table spoon of dry fenugreek leaves (Kasuri methi)
  • One table spoon of tandoori masala (optional to add color)
  • Two table spoons of garam masala powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • Lemon juice as per taste
  • Three table spoons of butter
  • Three table spoons of fresh cream
  • Green coriander leaves for garnishing
Preparation Method
  • Peel the skin of onions and blanch them in hot water for three minutes
  • Make Puree and mash into a paste
  • Repeat the same procedure with tomatoes, if you are not using tomato puree directly
  • Place the heavy-bottomed container on the gas, heat one table spoon of ghee
  • Fry  paneer cubes till they turn light brown
  • In a separate bowl, take one cup of hot water, add a little salt and turmeric to it
  • Immerse paneer cubes in the same water and leave for 10 to 12 minutes
  • Take out the paneer pieces out, drain them on a tissue paper and set aside
  • Heat two table spoons of butter in the heavy-bottomed container
  • Add bay leaves and cloves
  • Then add onion paste and fry till it turns brown
  • Add ginger-garlic paste, fry for three minutes
  • Add chili powder, add cashew paste and fry for a few minutes
  • Add tomato puree, ground Fenugreek leaves, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and salt
  • Stir and allow it to cook on low flame for a while
  • Add  paneer cubes and simmer on a low flame for nearly 5 minutes
  • Add a little amount of water and cook on medium heat for few more minutes
  • Remove the container from fire, stir paneer butter masala with remaining butter and fresh cream
  • Decorate with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice, pulao or paranthas
